People with high blood pressure who participated in the study ate one ounce of Grana Padano – a hard cheese similar to parmesan – daily for two months and showed improvement in their blood pressure.
The top number of the blood pressure was improved by 7 to 8 millimetres of mercury and the bottom by 5 to 7 millimetres.
Those who ate the fake version saw no improvement.
This is all due to two compounds found in Grana Padano, a cheese which is readily available in your supermarket, which can relax your blood vessels and lower your blood pressure.
It's been a stellar year for cheese and heart health.
Another study was released earlier this year which claimed a diet rich in cheese could actually increase a good form of cholesterol which can protect you from diseases.
